This September, the Vancouver World Chef Exchange is popping up in San Francisco at Barcino restaurant!
Vancouver’s Chef Chris Whittaker and San Francisco’s Chef Ryan McIlwraith are teaming up (once again) to present a multi-course collaboration dinner. The goal: a culinary mash up between the flavors, ingredients and dining sensibilities of British Columbia, California and Spain and a never-before-seen culinary experience that you do not want to miss. Also, Patrick Murphy, Proprietor of Vista D’Oro Winery will be in attendance to share his award winning dessert wine and tell the story of British Columbia wines.

About the Chefs
Acclaimed Canadian chef and sustainable food advocate Chris Whittaker of prestigious Vancouver and BC restaurants including Forage, Timber and Quaaout Lodge & Spa brings San Francisco-based Chef Ryan McIlwraith back to his Vancouver roots. Born and raised in Vancouver, McIlwraith manned the kitchen at numerous award-winning restaurants across the Canada before landing at San Francisco’s Absinthe Group as executive chef of their portfolio of restaurants including Absinthe, Bellota, Barcino, and Comstock Saloon. In February 2017, they collaborated on a dinner at Timber restaurant in Vancouver that was also part of the Vancouver World Chef Exchange and Dine Out Vancouver Festival.

The Vancouver World Chef Exchange is a collaborative project run by Tourism Vancouver’s Dine Out Vancouver Festival designed to spread Vancouver’s culinary story across the globe while bringing leading food hubs closer together and, of course, dish up a once-in-a-lifetime dining experiences. Since 2016, Vancouver has welcomed chefs from Puerto Vallarta, New York City, Copenhagen, Sydney, San Francisco, Boston, London, Galway, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Bangkok, Beijing, Indigenous Canada, Nashville and Mexico City. Vancouver has hosted “pop-up” events in London, Brighton, New York, and soon… San Francisco. The Vancouver World Chef Exchange is presented by Aeroplan and supported by Air Canada and the Westin Bayshore hotel.
