Shift Drink—where curiosity meets generosity. This monthly pop-up aims to raise awareness and funds for nonprofit organizations in our local communities. This month’s Shift Drink will take place on Friday, September 30th at our Training Center in the Adams Morgan neighborhood. Stop by for coffee any time between 11 am-2 pm and support a cause selected by our team in LA.
This month we are excited to be raising money for Women Against Gun Violence. Founded in 1993, WAGV works on stronger gun laws and offers educational programs on how to prevent unintentional shootings and suicide.
For your health and safety and the health and safety of our employees, guests, and communities at large, masks are mandatory for entry. Additional local mandates may apply. Circumstances may change at any moment— in the event that hosting this gathering poses a public risk, we reserve the right to cancel. We will notify all RSVPed guests and note any changes on our social media and communication channels.
History of Shift Drink
Friday morning coffee tastings have been a ritual at Counter Culture since our founding in 1995; The entire company would stop what they were doing to come together and cup coffee. Soon after, we began inviting our local communities to join us for these Friday Morning Cuppings. Over a decade later, these cuppings evolved into more general coffee tastings exploring conventional ways of brewing coffee. These Tastings at Ten had become a tradition for thousands of people throughout our communities. While we didn’t know it then, we hosted our last Tasting at Ten on March 13th, 2020. Our 25-year-old tradition changed, along with the rest of the world.
After two years of missing our Friday morning tradition, in 2022, we launched Shift Drink—where curiosity meets generosity. This pay-what-you-want pop-up cafe invites you to join us for coffee while donating to a good cause. As a B Corp, Counter Culture seeks to use business as a force for good. Shift Drink is one way we leverage our national footprint to support our local communities in a meaningful way.
