Looking to add a wow-factor to your next dinner party? Do you love drinking cocktails but hate the price? We have the perfect solution! Join the Roots Team’s best bartenders on a zero-waste cocktail journey and learn how to prepare perfectly balanced libations using upcycled ingredients.
The ladies will take you through the basics of cocktail mixing–from the correct application of the tools of the trade to standard recipe ratios–and the fundamentals of upcycling and zero-waste techniques. Then you will learn how to apply these techniques in your home bar, focusing on the three most important standards of the cocktail world: alcohol, citrus, and sugar. During the workshop you will be guided step by step through each process, developing a hands-on understanding that you can bring back to your own kitchen!
And then you will have the opportunity to put that new found knowledge to the test and use the upcycled ingredients to create your own zero-waste cocktail. Tools, spirits, and mixing agents will all be provided; All we ask is that you come ready to learn and have a great time!
What we will supply:
– ingredients
– tools for measuring, shaking, mixing, and cutting
– recipes, instruction, and fun
– snacks and refreshments 🙂
What you need to bring:
– We would like each of you to bring a zero-waste or up-cycled ingredient from home that we can try to use in a cocktail. Peels, stems, or really any fruit or vegetable matter that you otherwise might throw away are great options, but don’t be afraid to think outside of the fridge: at the last workshop a brave soul brought the last scrapes of peanut butter and it turned out to be the hit of the night.
Participants go home with:
– knowledge and understanding of zero-waste and up-cycling fundamentals
– knowledge and understanding of cocktail making basics
– a workshop guide with recipes, methodology and tips
– a self-created zero-waste bar mixer!
THIS WORKSHOP IS IN ENGLISH.
